Breathe in
The sallow’s branches sway back and forth
with unpredictable rhythm
sing and silence

Stolen words whispered in hushed tones
“No one’s heard a single word I’ve said”, he says
wordless

“They don’t sound as good outside my head”, he says
uncertain

the crown opens and light spills into shadows
aurora, slow
rain drops echo woe
as the caricatures take their mark on stage

puddles mirror lost dreams, wishes, marvels, whimsy
dissolving into bouts of laughter
life settles, hope fades
a mask devoid of color, unkind and hollow
illusions burn away
silence is broken
a green lotus blooms in the moonlight

Stirring from a dream
laughter curls around my core
Hope bubbles, pink
