How to find the loo? You laugh now, but what about when you’re out and about and suddenly have to pee? You can only hold it if you’re a seasoned road warrior like myself. Ah, and good luck trying to find one! Those mysterious toilets are like unicorns. Well, almost, anyway.
Vayable is a site that I enjoy because you get to book tours with local people. I’ve used ToursByLocals before, and they are fine, but sometimes the tour I want is costly. Sometimes, I want someone to come along and take pictures of me while making kissy faces with different statues. How are you going to get someone to do that? Well, you need to find a site specializing in “whatever’s clever.” The original loo tour by Rachel Erickson is just that.
What’s more, Rachel is a native of California, so you’ll have someone to chat with who completely understands missing public toilets. (BART, anyone? Where did those toilets go??)
And this tour helps you locate FREE public toilets. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck like me having to fish around for 50p every time you have to go. I know this is not my usual musing, but since I’ve started planning my trip again, I figured I’d let you in on one of my finds. So if you ever find yourself in London for an extended day, I would advise finding a guide that can give you the nitty-gritty. Y’know, the real important things in life. Like where to go pee!
P.S. When in doubt, head into a public museum. Always free, very clean, and if you’re so inclined, you can stay and check out a painting.
